Based on the television episodes, "The Living Legend" Parts 1 and 2, and "Fire in Space". The footage from the three episodes mentioned, was spliced together to make this film. This film is essentially, "The Towering Inferno" and "Patton" set in outer space. Lloyd Bridges plays Commander Cain, the commanding officer of the Galactica's long lost sister ship, Pegasus.

The Galactica while on the run from the Cylons, stumbles across the Pegasus, which has been running a two year long "hit and run" war against the Cylons behind their lines. Immediately there is a clash between Adama and Cain over strategy and "who wears the pants" in the command food chain. I loved "Battlestar Galactica" as a kid, but I watch it now and I cringe. It hasn't aged well. However, it has a certain, nostalgia feel for me. In the end of the film the fate of the Pegasus is uncertain....this is on purpose.

Had there been a season 2 of Galactica, Cain and his crew would have returned. It was always intended to bring them back. However, alas, ABC pulled the plug.
